Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
